What others are saying about LEAMIS

LEAMIS MISSION TRIPS

“My first short-term trip was with a LEAMIS team. I slept on a 1 inch foam mattress, took cold showers, ate beans and rice 2 or 3 times a day, and often did not understand what was being said or why things were happening the way they were. It was the best two weeks of my life! I had never been so far outside of my comfort zone, and yet so certain that I was at the center of God’s will for my life at that moment. Through that experience, I learned what it means to truly be dependent on God for all of my needs.

I chose to participate in LEAMIS trips because I shared in their emphasis on training and I knew that the training I would receive would be invaluable. The team building exercises were also a valued asset to the success of our mission experience. Even though we came from different areas of the country, we were all focused on the common goal of making a difference and bringing hope to the people we were working with.” Wesley Tomlinson, TN

As we prepared to enter the mission field, I felt ready to enter into the culture and experience living with a host family for a week on the mission field. After experiencing two LEAMIS short-term mission trips to Costa Rica and Nicaragua, I feel that if I am called to lead a team, I will be able to put into practice the skills I was taught and help others see the value in training prior to the trip and debriefing after the trip.” Sonja Goold, FL

“I’ve been participating in short-term mission trips in the U.S. for over 10 years. In 2001 and 2002 I was introduced to international, short-term mission experiences during LEAMIS Team Leader Training trips. After the first trip I felt I was equipped to be a team leader, but more importantly I also realized from the training, the vast scope of responsibilities that leading a team entailed. I felt the second trip fine-tuned that training and I had a much better overall perspective of the team leader role.

In January 2003 I led a short-term trip for LEAMIS to Costa Rica. I felt very prepared as situations arose during the trip. I was equipped with the skills and tools I needed. The team had the experience I hoped they all would have, and we were all richly blessed and rewarded from our experiences living and working with our host families and the rest of the church congregation.”  Ed Bradley, Team Leader,  TN

“I just wanted to send a note thanking you for the wonderful job you have done over the years training leaders of short-term teams. I started the year hosting two teams whose leaders have been trained by you and I dare predict they are going to be among the easiest and most fruitful ones of the year.”   Carlos Mestayer, Costa Rica -Indigenous Missionary

STAFF DEVELOPMENT

“Everyone on our staff had a ‘feel’ for one another and what we were trying to accomplish, but in hindsight we were more or less stumbling in the dark. In a short time, LEAMIS gave us the language and tools we needed to ‘see’ our team in action – enabling us to begin capitalizing on our strengths and accounting for our weaknesses. If you want your staff to move to the ‘next level,’ I highly recommend LEAMIS.” Rev. Brady S. Whitton, LA

“The Staff Training that LEAMIS provided for our team of missionaries was extremely valuable.  The variety of learning activities and the excellent instruction of the LEAMIS facilitators made the content easily digestible and enjoyable.  One of the great benefits to the training was the team building that took place through their well-constructed program and interactive learning experiences.  The personality assessment tools used by LEAMIS are of the highest quality and have had a lasting impact on the way our ministry team relates together.

I heartily recommend the LEAMIS Staff Training for any church, mission agency or ministry team that desires to learn how to work together efficiently and increase their effectiveness in the work of the ministry.” Daniel Bair, Former National Director, Christ for the Cities International, Costa Rica
